Events

Events are how you bring a group of people together around one moment — a birthday, a reunion, a funeral, a wedding. Guests scan a QR code, drop their photos into a live photo wall, and chat in one place. When it's over, you can send everyone a closing page with a recap.

Pick a Tier

When you tap + on the Events tab, you'll see two cards. Pick one — you can't change the type later.

Credits

Each event runs on one credit of the matching tier. You buy credits in advance from the in-app store and apply them to events when you're ready to publish.

• Silver coin = a Gathering credit.
• Gold coin = an Event credit.
• An empty coin slot on an event card means it's still a draft. Tap the slot to buy or apply a credit.
• Drafts show a DRAFT watermark and sort below your funded events.
• Credits you buy never expire — sit on one for a year or use it tonight.
• Once a credit is applied, it's locked to that event and not refundable. The event itself is fully repurposable — rename it, reschedule, change the location, the credit stays with it.

Upgrade a Gathering to an Event

Outgrew your Gathering? You can upgrade it for the price difference ($20). The upgrade unlocks unlimited guests, up to 10 stages, the guestbook, and the closing page. Everything you've already set up stays.

The upgrade is locked to that one event. Other Gathering events you have running stay Gatherings unless you upgrade each one.

Creating an Event

1. Open the Events tab and tap +.
2. Pick Gathering or Event. (If you already have a credit in hand, the picker skips ahead.)
3. Fill in title, date, time, location, and timezone (auto-set to your device's).
4. Save as a draft to keep working on it, or tap the empty coin slot to apply a credit and publish.

Editing Your Event

Once an event exists, the edit screen shows different tabs depending on the tier:

• Gathering: Details, Guests, Live Wall
• Event: Details, Stages, Guests, Live Wall, Alerts

The header shows a coin and a tier label so you always know which one you're editing.

Inviting Guests

Every event has a QR code guests scan to join. You can also send invites by SMS or email. Guests don't need a Kizu account to view the photo wall — they can open it in any browser.

Live Photo Wall

The photo wall is the running feed of everything guests are uploading. It's live during the event — new photos appear as they're added. Toggle Live Wall on the Details tab to enable or hide it.

Stages and Timeline (Event tier)

An Event can have up to 10 stages — sub-events with their own start times. Use stages for a wedding (ceremony, cocktails, dinner, dancing), a conference (keynote, sessions, after-party), or anything that runs in segments.

• Each stage shows its own countdown and goes live when its time comes.
• Marking a stage live clears the "completed" state on it and any later stages, so you can rewind if you need to.
• The "Pre" state resets all stages back to before-the-event.

Guestbook (Event tier)

Guests can sign your guestbook with a short message and a photo, video, or note. The video camera defaults to the front-facing lens and shows a preview before the guest hits submit.

• Guests can switch between signing their first entry and editing it via a pill toggle.
• The gallery is a row-feed view — tap any entry to play it back.
• Entries default to going to the event owner.

Announcements (Event tier)

Use the Alerts tab to push announcements to your guests during the event. Good for "Dinner is being served," "Last call for the photo booth," or last-minute schedule changes.

Event Mode (Host Run-of-Show)

When the event is running, switch into Event Mode for the host's view. You'll see album tiles, a gradient upload header with per-asset progress, and a HOST badge on your Chat tab so you know which mode you're in. Exit Event Mode to return to your normal Kizu chats.

Closing Page (Event tier)

The closing page is a public landing page guests visit after the event via SMS or email. Configure it from Edit Event → Details → Closing Page:

• Thank-you note — what guests see when they open the page.
• Host notes — short items like lost & found ("Navy blazer left at the bar").
• Upload closes — the date the page stops accepting new photos. Defaults to one month after the event ends. Guestbook signing in the Kizu app keeps working past this date.
• Send Closing Reminder — emails and texts every accepted guest with the closing-page link.
• Close Open Registration — stops every outstanding closing-page link. Existing signed-in guests keep their access. Open registration also closes automatically on the upload-closes date.

What Guests See

• Scan the QR or open the link — no account needed to view the wall.
• Add their own photos and videos to the wall.
• Sign the guestbook (Event tier).
• Get a closing-page email or text after the event with the recap and link to the wall.
